Dr Sonu Bhaskar Named Among World’s Top 2% Scientists

Stanford–Elsevier/Clarivate ranks Professor Sonu Bhaskar, MD, PhD, FANA among the world’s top 2 % of scientists for global research impact.

The latest global citation analysis jointly released by Stanford University and Elsevier/Clarivate has recognised Professor Sonu Bhaskar, MD, PhD, FANA, as one of the world’s Top 2 % most influential scientists. This independent ranking evaluates the research impact of more than 8 million active scholars across all disciplines using a composite score that includes total citations, h-index, co-authorship patterns, and field-weighted impact.

The Stanford/Clarivate global ranking places Dr Sonu Bhaskar in the top 0.3 % worldwide in his primary field of Neurology & Neurosurgery, and also ranks him within the top ≈1 % in Clinical Medicine and top ≈1–2 % in General & Internal Medicine, underscoring his broad influence across disciplines.

Adding to these career-long metrics, Dr Bhaskar recently published influential work in Nature Aging and the European Journal of Neuroscience, further strengthening his international profile as a leader in vascular neurology, stroke research, and brain–heart health.

Professor Bhaskar is Founding Director of the Global Health Neurology Lab (Sydney) and NSW Brain Clot Bank, and serves as Visiting Director at Japan’s National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center.
His pioneering work in stroke, neurovascular imaging, and brain–heart health has advanced clinical care and policy across Asia, Australia, and the broader Global South.
